“Astro’s Adventure at Frost Science” is a student-produced animated short created as part of the MAGIC’s capstone project at Miami Dade College. Developed over two academic terms under the guidance of Professor Gabriel Ramirez and industry mentor Alec Warren, this collaboration with the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science brings storytelling to the planetarium like never before.

In the film, Astro welcomes guests—until a technical glitch sends everyone on a thrilling journey through space, the deep sea, pre-historic times, and back home safe to the Frost Science Planetarium. The project not only showcases student talent but also reflects a growing partnership between MDC MAGIC and Frost Science, spanning internships, job opportunities, and even game dev courses at the museum.

In 2025, we celebrate “10 Years of MAGIC”—a decade of shaping the next generation of animators, game developers, and immersive storytellers. What began as a bold vision to position Miami as a creative tech hub has grown into a nationally recognized academic center, graduating hundreds of students, forging powerful industry partnerships, and producing films, games, and VR experiences. From 65 students in 2015 to over 800 today, MAGIC has become a launchpad for diverse talent and a catalyst for economic development in the digital arts.
Astro’s Adventure is exactly what MAGIC is about: students gaining real-world experience while still in school, building the future of Miami’s digital arts economy one pixel at a time.
