Astro takes us on a thrilling journey through time, while Mr. 305 saves the day—with a little help from cafecito—as he stops Gustavo the gator from wreaking havoc. These are just some of the vibrant stories featured in five student projects that premiered yesterday at Miami Dade College’s Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex (MAGIC).
As part of their capstone experience, MAGIC students in their second year produce original animated films, video games, and immersive experiences under the guidance of industry mentors. This year’s lineup includes work created for the Frost Science Museum Planetarium, educational VR simulations, and projects developed in collaboration with media giants. The future of storytelling is happening now—and it’s happening at MAGIC.
Each project reflects the students’ growing mastery of storytelling, design, and interactive technology—skills honed through MAGIC’s industry-driven curriculum. Whether developing a time-traveling sci-fi epic, crafting culturally-rooted characters like Mr. 305, or building immersive VR experiences for classroom learning, these creators are bridging entertainment and education in powerful new ways. With mentorship from partners like TelevisaUnivision, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Level Headed Games and leading game studios, MAGIC students are not just preparing for the industry—they’re already making an impact.
