Aspiring animators, artists, and storytellers are in for a treat this summer with a series of free workshops led by industry professionals. Scheduled throughout July 2024, these workshops are designed to cater to a range of skill levels and interests, from animation principles to art and design, and storyboarding. All three workshops are an initiative of the “Miami Animation Incentive Program,” a collaboration between The Miami Media Film Market (MMFM), CAMACOL, CareerSource South Florida and the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) at Miami-Dade College (MDC). An innovative program bridging our next generation of animation/gaming professionals, with animation studios and companies around the world.
Principles of Animation / July 8th – 12th, from 12 – 2pm EST – with Chris Bailey
One of the standout sessions is the Principles of Animation Workshop, featuring Animator, Director, Showrunner, and Oscar Nominee Chris Bailey. This workshop is perfect for both beginners and those with some experience. Attendees will delve into the foundational principles that make animations lifelike and captivating. With hands-on exercises and expert guidance, participants will learn techniques essential for producing professional-quality animations.
Storyboarding – July 15th – 19th, from 12 – 2pm EST – with Donimick Bedasse
The Storyboard Workshop, led by Titmouse Inc. storyboard artist Dominick Debasse, focuses on the art of visual storytelling. Ideal for aspiring filmmakers, animators, content creators, and anyone with a passion for storytelling, this session provides the skills and techniques necessary to create compelling and effective storyboards. Whether you’re a novice or have some prior experience, this workshop will help you bring your visual stories to life.
Principles of Art & Design – July 22nd – 26th, from 12 – 2pm EST
For those interested in visual art and design, the Principles of Art and Design Workshop offers a deep dive into the fundamental concepts that underpin effective visual creation. Facilitated by Professor Sandra de Andrade, this workshop is open to artists, designers, and enthusiasts of all skill levels. Through interactive discussions, practical projects, and hands-on exercises, participants will enhance their understanding and application of key artistic principles.
