At MAGIC, the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex at Miami Dade College, we encourage and inspire kids and teens to become the next generation of developers, animators, video game designers, programmers and mixed reality creators. Our MAGIC Summer Camps feature hands-on, project-based learning infused with the latest in the creative industries, animation, video game development, VR, 3D printing technology and equipment. Our state of the art labs are equipped with industry standard technology and software, a motion capture studio, audio recording studio and screening room.
MAGIC’s instructors include highly respected tech educators, accomplished artists, and industry professionals who have a passion for sharing their knowledge. Each course is taught by one of our lead instructors with the support of teaching assistants, ensuring that our student-to-staff ratios stay low and that learning is a personalized experience.
UNITE Summer Program @ MAGIC
The Army Education Outreach Program (AEOP) is composed of competitions, unique experiences, internships, and teacher resources designed to spark inspiration, exploration, and achievement in STEM literacy and career development. From elementary school through college, students of all proficiency levels, interests, and social and economic backgrounds are encouraged to participate in real-world STEM experiences involving these important disciplines while also engaging with Army-sponsored mentors.
UNITE, an initiative in the AEOP portfolio, is a pre-collegiate, academic, summer program for rising 9th through 12th grade students from groups historically underrepresented and under-served in STEM. The program is designed to encourage and help prepare students to pursue college-level studies and, ultimately, careers in engineering and related STEM fields.
The UNITE Summer Program @ MAGIC will focus on Animation & Video Game Development, starting on June 12th for the period of four weeks. Participants will explore daily tech making and bursts in creativity when animating a character using Autodesk® Maya® for an original story, or simulating martial arts movements for a video game through available motion capture technology. The state of the art facilities at MAGIC and cutting edge technology allows students to dream, create and learn.

Alienware Brings More Magic to MDC
Partnerships are the cornerstone of MAGIC’s success, helping to sustain it as the region’s premier animation and gaming educational facility. Gaming hardware giant Alienware Corporation, a Dell company, recently affirmed its commitment to helping cultivate the next generation of game developers and designers with a generous donation of $48,000 toward scholarships.
Alienware also provides $8,000 each year to fund scholarships for MAGIC Summer Camp. With matching funds from the MDC Foundation, the exceptional camp is essentially free of charge to high school students.
“The work with Miami Dade College has already been extremely rewarding, and celebrating our 20-year anniversary this year, this partnership is such a wonderful way to cultivate talent for the next 20 years,” said Frank Azor, general manager of Alienware. “It’s been great to see the success of the program, and we’re definitely looking forward to the growth and potential of MAGIC.”
