The MAGIC Summer Camp encourages high school students to embark in a transformational experience through “Animation” and “3D Game Design” summer camps focusing on storytelling, 3d modeling, coding, game design, character animation and creating interactive simulations for Virtual and Augmented reality platforms. One of the great things about attending the MAGIC Summer Camp is that it provides each student with an established path for personal growth and learning.
At MAGIC, the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex at Miami Dade College, we encourage and inspire kids and teens to become the next generation of developers, animators, video game designers, programmers and mixed reality creators. Our MAGIC Summer Camps feature hands-on, project-based learning infused with the latest in the creative industries, animation, video game development, VR, 3D printing technology and equipment. Our state of the art labs are equipped with industry standard technology and software, a motion capture studio, audio recording studio and screening room.
MAGIC’s instructors include highly respected tech educators, accomplished artists, and industry professionals who have a passion for sharing their knowledge. Each course is taught by one of our lead instructors with the support of teaching assistants, ensuring that our student-to-staff ratios stay low and that learning is a personalized experience.
Scholarships
The Bosch Community Fund and Miggy’s Gift are fully committed to building the tech talent pipeline in our community. For the past three years, both institutions have funded scholarships for students to attend the program. Middle and High School students, ages from 13 – 19 years old are elegilble to apply for a full summer camp scholarhisp.

Esports Camp
Students ages 14+ will immerse themselves in the world of competitive gaming at this exciting esports camp designed for all-skill level players. Make new friends, have a blast and be a part of Miami Dade College Esports safe and supportive gaming community. Coaches will guide players through games, drills, and strategies in a fun and competitive environment. Players will walk away with several tactics and tools that they can utilize to improve their gaming skills while building important life skills that extend beyond the game. This camp is designed for all-skill level players looking to take their game to the next level. Pre-Requisite: Basic computer skills. Check in from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. get acquainted with equipment, meet, and greet. From 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.– students can stay on premises and work on labs while waiting for pick-up. Esports Week 1: Join us at MDC College for our first ever Esports Summer Camp. Week 1 will show you around the world of Esports while enjoying some time learning about Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. You will learn about “What is Esports”, being healthy while playing, how to play with people you know, and people you don’t know. Week #2: June 17 – June 21, 2024 $395
Esports Week 2: This is our second camp of the summer, and we are looking to expand on last week’s camp. We will dive further into communication, and discuss toxicity, reinforcement, go further into health and fitness, and explore the introductory phases of journalism, marketing and some problems they face in the industry today. All the while the players enjoy learning about the game of Overwatch and to assess games that require the ability to aim and think fast on your feet. Building 1, Room 1156-1. Course Hours: 25. Animation Camp
Students ages 14-19 will get an introduction to character design and animation using Autodesk® Maya®, the application used by top video game development and film studios. Skills development will focus on the use of Autodesk ”Maya” and Adobe Photoshop. This class is project based; students will have the opportunity to complete a portfolio of their own animation. Pre-Requisite: Basic computer skills. Check in from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. get acquainted with equipment, meet and greet. Students ages 14-19 will learn the premier 3D modeling, animation, effects, and rendering software packages on the market. Using the industry-standard, intuitive toolset featured in Autodesk® Maya® realistic 3D models will be created and prepare them for game play in a gaming engine. 2D Game Creation in Unreal Engine 5: Enhance your game development skills in this summer camp focused on creating a 2D platformer game in Unreal Engine 5. Learn the basics of Blueprint scripting, player movement, and input handling. Dive into level design, implementing game variables like score and lives, and creating engaging gameplay mechanics. Gain experience with events, custom functions, and enemy AI. The camp workshop also covers UI development for menus and HUDs, as well as handling win/lose scenarios.
