SUMMARY:Animation Bootcamp - "Principles of Animation" with Award Winning Animator and Director Chris Bailey
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the “Principles of Animation” Bootcamp @ MAGIC – An initiative of the Miami Animation Incentive Program.\nOverview:\nUnlock the secrets of creating lifelike and captivating animations in our Principles of Animation Workshop. Designed for both beginners and those with some animation experience\, this workshop provides an in-depth exploration of the foundational principles that bring characters and stories to life. Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn techniques that are essential for crafting professional-quality animations. \nWhat You’ll Gain:\n\nA thorough understanding of the 12 principles of animation.\nHands-on experience creating animations from concept to completion.\nEnhanced skills in character design and storytelling.\nFamiliarity with key animation tools and software.\nValuable feedback to refine your technique and style.\nInsights into the animation industry and potential career paths.\n\nMaterials Needed:\n\nToon Boom Harmony\n\nDuration:\n\nTwo-hour sessions daily over one week – July 8th – 12th\, from 12 – 2pm EST.\n\nWhere:\n\nOnline for students with access to Toon Boom Harmony\, or in-person at MAGIC.\n\nInstructor:\n\nChris Bailey\nAn Animator/Director/Showrunner with vast experience in both traditional and CG character animation. His career began as an animator at Walt Disney Feature Animation and grew into directing features\, TV series\, shorts\, and theme park ride films. His first short film\, Runaway Brain\, was nominated for an Academy Award. At Disney\, he worked as an animator for The Great Mouse Detective (1986)\, Sport Goofy in Soccermania (1987)\, Oliver & Company (1988)\, The Little Mermaid (1989)\, The Rescuers Down Under (1990)\, The Lion King (1994)\, and Hercules (1997). He also animated the children for the World Chorus post-show area for It’s a Small World at Disneyland Paris. \nAs Animation Supervisor on live-action/animation hybrids\, Chris contributes to all aspects of the process from storyboarding through post-production. He works closely with directors and visual effects studios to create convincing characters that resonate with an audience. Chris works with both above-the-line and below-the-line talent to ensure the best possible performance of the animated characters. He served as animation director for Garfield: The Movie\, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties\, Alvin and the Chipmunks\, and 2 Stupid Dogs\, supervising producer and supervising director for Clerks: The Animated Series and animation supervisor for Inspector Gadget\, Mighty Joe Young\, Fat Albert and X2. \n\n\n\nRegistration:\nJoin us in this dynamic workshop and take a leap into the world of animation. Whether you aim to create your own animated films\, work in the animation industry\, or simply explore a new artistic avenue\, this workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge to animate with confidence and creativity. \n\nThe Miami Media Film Market (MMFM)\, CAMACOL\, in collaboration with CareerSource South Florida and the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) at Miami-Dade College (MDC)\, launched an innovative program to link our next generation of animation/gaming professionals\, with animation companies worldwide. The program is also supported by the City of Miami and Miami Dade County. \n
