DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lecture with Ron Myrick\, Supervising Timing director of the new Scooby Doo series! This event is sponsored by the Aspen Institute. \nABOUT THE SPEAKER \nRon Myrick is currently the Supervising Timing director of the new Scooby Dooseries entitled “Guess Who Scooby Doo”. With 46 years’ experience in the fieldof animation there isn’t much he has not seen in the past 4 decades.His career started at Filmation Studio which produced such popular shows as TheArchie’s\, Star Trek\, Fat Albert\, and Tarzan\, just to name a few. These shows wereproduced in the traditional method of drawing with pencil on paper and the colorapplied to transparent cells\, which was filmed under a camera for broadcast. Ronhad a BFA degree in drawing from the California College of Arts and Crafts.For the next few years the entire animation industry became his classroom as he worked as an assistant animator not only on a myriad of TV series\, but also cereal commercials such as “Sugar Frosted Flakes”\, “Keebler Cookies”\, and “Coco Puffs”. Within five years Ron advanced from assistant animator to animator. He worked not only on popular T.V. series of the day but also some feature films like “Heavy Metal”\, “Watership Down”\, “The Mouse and His Child”\, as well as “Flash Gordon”.In the 80’s Ron left Filmation and started working as a freelance animator forHanna-Barbera . His first series for H & B was “Space Ghost”. From there\, hebranched out to animate on such notable shows as “The Smurfs”\, “The Flinstones”Happy Days”\, “Pac-Man” and many more. Ron move up to the position of “timing director” and eventually “supervising director on shows like “The Addams Family”\, “Sonic the Hedgehog”\, “Siegfried & Roy” and “The Incredible Hulk”.Ron directed the first 10 episodes of the CGI series Skylander’s Academy” which airson Netflix. He then went on to direct 104 episodes of a Flash series for Chinaentitled “Valt the Wonder Deer”. Ron’s involvement with that project ended inAugust of 2018\, which brings us full circle to where he is today at Warner Bro’sAnimation. \nABOUT ART OF TECH AT MIAMI DADE COLLEGE \nArt of Tech is a speaker series hosted by the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex at Miami Dade College which empowers\, elevates and inspires innovation within the growing digital technologies industry.
